Three and a half minute messages sent into the Universe
All of life might be encapsulated in two words, ‘circumstance’ and ‘coincidence’, for it is the combination of these two that can determine and direct the course of things. Here, we see all finally combine, less coincidence but plenty of circumstance, and it's with enthusiasm that I look to the lift off date, set for 1st March 2024.
Once in flight, it will be my task to play the very best tracks that rock has produced across some seventy years. Along the way, I will be doffing my cap at those performers who have given us some of the finest, most memorable recordings, many no longer a part of this world, but their contributions vital to the progress of the musical and cultural phenomenon that is now of pension age, Rock ‘n’ Roll.
The ongoing plan is to develop a sleek, streamlined listening experience, covering a variety of musical strands, chiefly rock on Friday, dance on Saturday, and a more laidback, ambient-based platform on Sunday.
Well, there'll be Rock ‘n’ Roll, as well as Jazz and Blues, but the main concentration will be on Rock, Indie, Psychedelia, Ambient, Shoegaze, Punk, New Wave, pre-Punk, post-Punk, Britpop, Reggae, Folk, Prog, Krautrock, and the odd film/TV composition.
There'll also be the occasional comedy piece and semi-regular features, such as The Third Rail, Intro/Outro, and Imaginary EPs, amongst others.
